1.1 Background of the Study
Education is a cornerstone of socio-economic development, providing individuals with the tools needed for personal growth, economic mobility, and social participation. However, in many rural areas of Nigeria, including Kiyawa Local Government Area (LGA) in Jigawa State, educational facilities often fall short of the necessary standards. Schools in these regions face challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, inadequate learning materials, and poor infrastructure. These issues affect the quality of education and hinder students’ academic performance. Photography, as a visual medium, can serve as a powerful advocacy tool for highlighting the condition of educational facilities and promoting calls for improvement. By documenting the state of schools, classrooms, and the learning environment, photography can raise awareness and inspire action toward improving educational infrastructure in Kiyawa LGA. This study examines the role of photography in advocating for better educational facilities in Kiyawa LGA.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite efforts to improve education in Kiyawa LGA, the region continues to face challenges regarding the quality of educational facilities. Overcrowded classrooms, lack of basic amenities, and dilapidated infrastructure contribute to subpar learning conditions. The absence of adequate platforms to showcase these issues has slowed the pace of improvement. Photography, with its ability to capture the realities of education in a visual format, can be a powerful tool for advocacy. However, its role in highlighting educational challenges and advocating for improved facilities in Kiyawa LGA has not been fully explored. This study aims to investigate the potential of photography in addressing these issues and contributing to the improvement of educational infrastructure.

1.4 Research Questions
1.5 Research Hypotheses
1.6 Significance of the Study
This study is significant because it demonstrates the potential of photography as an advocacy tool for improving educational facilities. By highlighting the state of schools and the challenges faced by students and teachers, photography can inspire greater public attention and encourage policymakers to prioritize educational infrastructure. The findings could inform advocacy campaigns and policy initiatives aimed at improving education in rural areas of Nigeria.
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on Kiyawa LGA in Jigawa State, specifically exploring the role of photography in advocating for improved educational facilities. It does not extend to other regions or address broader educational challenges beyond facility issues.
